The Green That Launched a Thousand Setups

Razer announced the Viper V4 Pro Esports Green Edition on August 18, launching it exclusively through Razer.com and select RazerStores. The new release slots into the company’s existing Esports Green Collection, which already includes the DeathAdder V4 Pro, the Huntsman V3 Pro Tenkeyless 8KHz, and the BlackShark V3 Pro headset, all wearing the same Pantone 802C finish.

The collection exists to celebrate what Razer describes as its enduring legacy in professional esports. That shade of green has been attached to the brand for roughly two decades now, and applying it to a new mouse is not a casual decision. According to Razer, bringing the Pantone 802C color to the Viper V4 Pro required the same rigorous material calibration process used across the rest of the collection, so the finish holds up under stage lighting and streaming rigs alike.

Hardware Built for Competition

The underlying mouse is Razer’s current flagship wireless esports offering, and the specs reflect that positioning. The Viper V4 Pro Esports Green Edition comes in at 52 grams, lighter than the previous generation according to Razer, thanks to what the company describes as advanced mechanical and structural optimizations.

The sensor is the Razer Focus Pro 50K Optical Sensor Gen-3, rated at 50,000 DPI, 930 IPS, and 90 G of acceleration, with Frame Sync for what Razer calls just-in-time reporting. Wireless connectivity runs through HyperSpeed Wireless Gen-2, which the company says is over 60 percent more power-efficient than previous generations and delivers true 8000 Hz polling with 55 percent lower latency.

Battery life figures are notable. Razer claims up to 180 hours at 1000 Hz polling, which drops to 45 hours when running at the full 8000 Hz rate. For players who want the absolute fastest response in tournament play, 45 hours still covers a lot of ground between charges.

The switches have been redesigned as well. Razer’s Optical Mouse Switches Gen-4 feature a click lifecycle rated at over 100 million actuations, and the company says the mechanism has been completely rebuilt from the ground up to deliver improved tactile feel alongside that durability. The optical scroll wheel, a feature Razer has pushed to reduce accidental scrolls during gameplay, is also present here.

The Pro Scene Connection

Razer is leaning hard on competitive credibility for this launch. The Viper V4 Pro is endorsed by Faker, the six-time League of Legends World Champion, according to Razer. The mouse has also seen use across competitive titles including VALORANT, Counter-Strike 2, League of Legends, and Rainbow Six Siege.

The numbers cited by Razer from ProSettings.net add some independent texture to that story. More than 3 in 10 tracked VALORANT professionals use a Razer Viper mouse, and nearly half use a Razer mouse of any model. That kind of penetration in one of the most-watched competitive titles right now is not nothing, and it helps explain why the Esports Green colorway feels like more than a marketing exercise.

Pro gear often trickles down from stage setups to ranked queues, and a mouse that accounts for that much of the VALORANT pro scene tends to accumulate a certain cultural weight. Whether the green colorway specifically drives purchasing decisions or simply signals membership in a particular competitive tradition, Razer is clearly betting the Esports Green Collection has earned a place on both.
