AOC Gaming Q27G4ZRAD Brings 260 Hz QHD Fast IPS at £229

A Familiar Size, a Fresh Spec Sheet

AGON by AOC is adding another entry to its G4 gaming monitor lineup. The new AOC GAMING Q27G4ZRAD/01, announced today, is a 27-inch flat monitor built around a Fast IPS panel running at QHD resolution. On paper, it checks a lot of the boxes esports-focused players care about most, and at £229 it is trying to do that without demanding a premium price.

The panel itself runs at 2560x1440 in a standard 16:9 widescreen layout, which puts it squarely in the sweet spot for competitive gaming. Fast IPS technology brings wide 178-degree viewing angles both horizontally and vertically, and AOC reports color coverage of 123.6 percent sRGB, 95.2 percent DCI-P3, and 91.4 percent Adobe RGB, all measured against the CIE 1976 standard. Peak brightness sits at 400 cd/m2, and the monitor carries VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. An anti-glare treatment handles ambient light, which is a small but genuinely appreciated touch for anyone gaming near a window.

Speed Is the Main Selling Point

The native refresh rate is 240 Hz, but AOC says the panel can be pushed to 260 Hz via its DisplayPort 1.4 connection. That overclocked headroom, while not enormous, reflects where the competitive monitor market has been drifting: manufacturers know that for a certain group of buyers, the number on the spec sheet matters, and 260 Hz reads better than 240.

Pixel response is rated at 1 ms GtG, with an MPRT figure of 0.3 ms. Both numbers are aimed squarely at reducing motion blur in fast first-person shooters and racing titles. The monitor also supports Adaptive-Sync and carries NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible certification, which means variable refresh rate support is in place for both major GPU camps.

For console players, the two HDMI 2.0 ports enable 1440p gaming at 120 Hz on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. That is a meaningful inclusion. A lot of QHD monitors in this price range lean heavily on PC use cases and treat console connectivity as an afterthought, so the explicit callout here is worth noting.

Ergonomics and the Long Session Problem

AOC has given the stand a full ergonomic treatment. Height adjusts up to 130 mm, tilt runs from negative 3 to positive 21 degrees, swivel covers 28 degrees in either direction, and the panel can rotate into portrait mode with a full 90-degree pivot. That last feature is genuinely useful for productivity tasks outside gaming hours, or for anyone who wants to run a vertical secondary display.

For eye comfort during extended play, the monitor includes Flicker-Free technology and a Low Blue Mode setting. Neither is unusual at this tier, but their presence matters for players logging long sessions across competitive titles or streaming marathons.

Built-in 2W x 2 stereo speakers round out the feature list. They are not going to replace a dedicated headset or desktop speakers, but for a quick desktop audio solution without extra cables, they get the job done. AOC G-Menu software compatibility allows on-screen adjustments and gaming preset management from the desktop, avoiding the tedium of navigating on-monitor menus.

Where It Sits in the Market

The Q27G4ZRAD/01 arrives at a busy moment for 27-inch QHD monitors. MSI has been expanding its MAG lineup with 320 Hz and 180 Hz WQHD options, and AOC itself launched the curved CQ32G4ZA and the 25G4ZR 24.5-inch model earlier this summer. The Q27G4ZRAD slots neatly into the middle of that activity: not the fastest panel AOC makes, not the largest, but a practical combination of speed, resolution, and color performance at a price that should appeal to the mainstream competitive player who does not want to spend significantly more for incremental gains.

The monitor ships with AOC’s standard 3-year warranty. Pricing is set at £229, though US pricing has not yet been announced as of this writing.
