Two Fan Favorites Join the Fight

WeirdCo is not slowing down on Cyberpunk TCG reveals. On July 31, IGN published an exclusive first look at two new cards for the highly anticipated trading card game based on CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077 and its anime. The two cards showcased are Jackie Welles in his Mama’s Favorite Legend form and Judy Alvarez in her Nothing to Doubt Unit version, each available in both a standard and an Iconic variant.

The game blew up on Kickstarter earlier this year, according to the piece written by freelance contributor Scott White. Fans are still months out from pulling cards at their local game stores, but WeirdCo has kept interest warm with a steady cadence of reveals.

Jackie Welles: The Tank Who Takes a Bullet for You

Jackie Welles gets a green Legend card with a RAM value of 2 and a hefty attack power of 8. That number matters because of his Go Solo ability, which lets Jackie break through the 10-power threshold on attacks to steal additional gigs. White points out that the Cyberware card Sandevistan pairs nicely here, as it readies, or untaps, Jackie at the end of your turn and keeps him in the action.

The real draw of the card, though, is its protective ability. When any of your other units would be defeated, you can spend 1 Eddy to have Jackie take the hit instead, removing him from the game entirely. White draws a direct parallel to Jackie’s role in Cyberpunk 2077, where the character looks out for the player’s avatar, V, throughout the early story. It is a fitting mechanical tribute. The tradeoff is losing Jackie permanently, so players will want to use the ability selectively, especially if an important unit is loaded up with gear worth protecting.

Judy Alvarez: A Deckbuilder’s Dream With Strings Attached

Judy Alvarez comes in as a blue Unit card at a cost of 6 with 6 power. Her standout ability lets you tap her and pay a single Eddy to play the top card of your deck or add it to your hand. For decks built around high-value cards, that kind of card advantage is significant, and White describes it as the real star of the card.

There is a catch, though, and it is a meaningful one. Judy requires 5 blue RAM to play, and as of the time of writing, there are no blue Legends in the game that provide 3x Blue RAM to a player’s pool. That means Judy is currently locked into mono-blue decks, cutting out a lot of flexibility for players who want to splash other colors. White acknowledges that restriction directly, noting it may cause some players to pump the brakes on early excitement.

Once she hits the table, Judy will also need protection. Her ability is strong enough that White expects opponents to target her immediately, so having blockers ready will be essential.

What This Means for the First Set

Both cards carry a cost of 6, which places them in the higher-investment tier for a single turn, but the payoffs are substantial enough to justify the commitment in the right builds. Jackie offers a versatile green aggressor who doubles as a shield. Judy offers consistent card advantage at the price of color restriction.

WeirdCo and CD Projekt Red are credited jointly on both cards. More revealed cards are already available on the Cyberpunk TCG website for players who want to start theorycrafting before the game reaches stores. These two additions give deckbuilders plenty to think about, particularly anyone already committed to a mono-blue strategy.
