Future Games Show Gamescom 2026: Best PS5 Trailers Roundup

From a gothic action RPG launching next week to a boomer shooter sequel with a firm October date, the Future Games Show at Gamescom 2026 had a handful of PS5 reveals worth your time. Push Square's Sammy Barker breaks down the highlights.

E3 Is Gone, Weekly Showcases Are Forever

E3 has been dead for a while now, and as Push Square editor Sammy Barker put it, approximately four billion different weekly livestreams have appeared in its place. The Future Games Show at Gamescom 2026, hosted by Resident Evil Requiem actors Nick Apostolides and Angela Sant’Albano, was the latest to make its case. Barker’s verdict: not mind-blowing, but a decent broadcast with some good trailers and, crucially, a few actual release dates attached to games people have been waiting on.

Here is what pushed to the front of the line.

Games with Dates You Can Circle

The most immediately pressing news out of the show involves Crimson Moon, the gothic action RPG from ProbablyMonsters. As Barker noted, most people following PS5 releases are already familiar with this one at this point, and the wait is nearly over. It launches on 1st September 2026, which is days away.

For players who like their action a little grittier and a lot more heretical, Warhammer 40k: Boltgun 2 has a firm date too. The boomer shooter sequel is hitting PS5 on 14th October 2026. The original Boltgun earned a devoted following for translating the grimdark 40K universe into something that felt genuinely old-school in the best way, and a sequel arriving with a clear release date is the kind of concrete news a busy fall schedule demands.

On the slightly more morbid side of tycoon management, Graveyard Keeper 2 is launching on 22nd September 2026. The premise, as Barker described it, puts players in charge of managing their own cemetery. Sony apparently gave away the first Graveyard Keeper for free to PS5 players at some point, which should mean there is a built-in audience curious enough to come back for the sequel.

Trailers Worth a Few Minutes of Your Day

Spine is the one that seems to have generated the most excitement in reader comments below Barker’s piece. The game draws directly from the “gun-fu” style popularized by the John Wick films, and Barker expressed some surprise it took this long for that particular brand of stylized close-quarters combat to find a proper video game home. The trailer shown at the showcase is mostly CG, so there is still some faith required, but Barker indicated the concept looks well-executed. Push Square lists the release window as Spring 2027, though at least one reader noted the trailer itself may say Summer 2027.

Neon Abyss 2 made an impression for pure sensory overload. Barker wrote that watching the trailer, he initially assumed he had accidentally set YouTube to double speed. He had not. The game is simply arriving on PS5 later this year with what he called maximum carnage and an unlimited amount of screen shake. That description alone will either excite or alarm you, depending on your relationship with roguelikes.

Guns of Eschaton was not a new announcement at the show, but it earned a mention for the late Viktor Antonov’s involvement. Antonov served as art director on Half-Life and Dishonored, and his visual sensibility comes through clearly in what has been shown of this game. The new trailer at the Future Games Show teased co-op functionality for the title.

Rounding things out is Astragon’s Police Simulator. The studio’s previous effort, Firefighting Simulator, was noted by Barker as a cut above the typical sim fare, and Police Simulator follows in that vein. The genre does not exactly suffer from a lack of options on PS5, but Astragon’s track record gives it some credibility.

A Busy September and October Taking Shape

With Crimson Moon arriving September 1st, Graveyard Keeper 2 on September 22nd, and Boltgun 2 landing October 14th, the next two months on PS5 are filling in fast. Spine’s 2027 window gives players a reason to keep watching, and Neon Abyss 2’s “later this year” tag suggests another potential fall arrival. As showcases go, this one delivered more in the way of dates than drama, which, honestly, is sometimes exactly what you need.
