Eight Games, One Busy Month

August 2026 is shaping up to be a rough month for PlayStation nostalgia. As reported by Push Square editor Sammy Barker, at least eight PS5, PS4, and PS3 titles will lose their online services before September arrives. The silver lining, such as it is, is that nothing is being pulled outright from the PlayStation Store this time around. Just the lights going out on the online side.

Here is the full list of what is affected, according to Push Square:

• NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 (PS4): Online services ending August 20
• WWE 2K Battlegrounds (PS4): Online services ending August 20

• inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood (PS3): Online services ending August 31
• Let It Die (PS4): Servers closing August 31
• NHL 22 (PS5, PS4): Online services ending August 31
• NHL 23 (PS5, PS4): Online services ending August 31

Trophy Hunters, Take Note

For most people, losing online functionality just means you can no longer matchmake or post to leaderboards. For Trophy hunters, though, the stakes are higher. Push Square specifically flags inFAMOUS 2 and inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood as games where the Platinum will become unobtainable after August 31. Both titles will remain fully playable offline, but they rely on user generated content features tied to online infrastructure. Once those features go dark, those Platinums go with them.

If you have been sitting on either of those PS3 classics with a half-finished checklist, now is the time to look up exactly what you still need.

NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 and WWE 2K Battlegrounds lose their online modes on August 20, a couple of weeks ahead of the end-of-month crowd. Tearaway’s situation is a little different and a little gentler: the Tearaway.me companion website is shutting down, which removes optional creativity features rather than core gameplay.

Let It Die Gets an Offline Lifeline

The most interesting case in this batch is Let It Die, the free-to-play PS4 action title from Grasshopper Manufacture. Its servers are closing on August 31, which would normally mean the game simply ceases to function. But according to Push Square, the developer is offering a one-time offline play purchase that will preserve all of the game’s content in an offline environment. That is a genuinely thoughtful move for a free-to-play title, where offline preservation is rarely considered when the servers get switched off.

A Regional PS3 Store Closure, Too

One more piece of news tucked into the report: the PS3 store is closing in August 2026 for users in Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Players in other regions still have until July 2027 to make purchases on PS3 and PS Vita, according to Push Square.

Barker notes he has been tracking delistings and service closures throughout 2026 to give players enough runway to act before deadlines hit. The context this month is hard to ignore: Sony has been in the news recently over announcements regarding physical games, making a list of online shutdowns land with a bit more weight than it might have otherwise. Still, no store delistings is genuinely good news relative to some previous months. If you have been meaning to wrap up either inFAMOUS Platinum, August 31 is a firm, non-negotiable deadline.
