The West Is Back, and It Brought a Lasso

Riot Games is returning to the frontier. The Neo Frontier 2.0 bundle is set to arrive in the VALORANT store on July 30, 2026, bringing a fresh round of Western-themed cosmetics to a game that already has no shortage of flashy weaponry. As reported by Dot Esports, the new collection centers on skins for the Vandal and Shorty, alongside what might be the most thematically on-brand melee weapon the game has seen yet: an actual lasso.

The original Neo Frontier bundle made a strong impression with its blend of Wild West aesthetics and sci-fi flourishes. The 2.0 collection follows the same design philosophy. Skins come in two distinct variants, an old look with a traditional Wild West feel and a sci-fi version with color variants available on top. Players can switch between those two looks freely, even after fully upgrading a skin, which effectively means each gun skin is doing double duty.

What the Skins Actually Do

Beyond the visuals, both weapons come with new animations that lean into the cowboy fantasy. The Shorty gets a flip pullout and reload animation, a style Dot Esports notes is similar to what the Marshal offered in the original Neo Frontier bundle. The Vandal, meanwhile, gets a mag spin reload and an inspect animation. Neither of the old variants includes visual effects, but both carry audio effects, so there is still some sensory feedback even if you prefer the more grounded aesthetic.

The lasso melee is where things get genuinely interesting. You can spin it during the inspect animation and whip it during attacks. Dot Esports notes that some of its attack animations are reminiscent of the Kuronami no Yaiba and Blackthorn Blades melees. But the standout feature is probably the inspect animation’s unique music track, with separate tunes for the old and sci-fi versions. That kind of audio detail on a melee is unusual, and for some players it will be the whole reason to buy in.

Pricing and the Mega Bundle

Riot Games had not officially confirmed pricing as of publication. That said, Dot Esports points out that the original Neo Frontier gun skins were priced at 2,175 VP each, with the melee running 4,350 VP. Gun skin prices in 2.0 collections tend to hold steady from the originals, though melee pricing can vary.

For players who want the full set, Riot is also launching a mega bundle that packages the Neo Frontier 2.0 Vandal, Shorty, and Lasso Melee together with the original collection’s Sheriff, Marshal, and Phantom at a discounted combined price. That option makes more sense for anyone who skipped the first bundle or just wants to commit to a full Western loadout.

Because Neo Frontier 2.0 is classified as an Exclusive bundle, none of its skins will show up in the Night Market. Once the collection rotates out of the featured shop, it may surface in daily offers, but the Night Market route is off the table entirely.

A Small but Specific Caveat

Dot Esports flags one minor visual quirk worth knowing: the sci-fi version of the lasso melee looks, in their words, a little like a garden hose. Whether that dampens the appeal depends entirely on your tolerance for slightly awkward futurism dressed up in spurs. The music track, by most accounts, earns its keep regardless of which variant you end up preferring.

The bundle drops July 30, which gives players a few days to decide whether the frontier lifestyle is worth the VP.
