NRG, Leviatán, 100T, and LOUD punch tickets to VCT Americas Stage 2 playoffs

Group Alpha was never really in doubt

The VCT 2026 Americas Stage 2 group stage wrapped up on August 13, and the results were about as clean as NRG and Leviatán could have hoped for. Both teams advanced out of Group Alpha without dropping a single map in their final matches, according to reporting from Dot Esports.

NRG took down ENVY 2-0, while Leviatán handled Evil Geniuses in similarly convincing fashion, winning both maps 5-13 on Split and 5-13 on Sunset. Leviatán’s margin of victory there was not a misprint. That is the kind of scoreline that tends to make a locker room feel very good about itself heading into a playoff run.

NRG enters the bracket as the region’s most consistent side. Their form has held up across the entire tournament, and the dominant group-stage exit only reinforces that. Leviatán have looked sharp enough to be a genuine problem for anyone they face.

Group Omega made everyone earn it

Group Omega had a completely different atmosphere. Where Alpha felt controlled, Omega was messy and stressful in the best way for neutral observers.

LOUD’s path to the playoffs required a full three-map series against KRÜ Esports. They won Lotus 13-9, then dropped Breeze 17-15 in overtime, before closing it out with a commanding 13-3 on Sunset. That overtime map alone probably aged a few LOUD fans considerably.

Evil Geniuses had a rough time of it. Back-to-back losses, first to Leviatán in Alpha and then to MIBR on Haven (12-14) and Ascent (2-13), helped create the kind of cascading bracket pressure that made every remaining Omega result feel urgent.

100 Thieves had their own problems. An earlier 2-0 loss to Cloud9, with Haven and Sunset both going Cloud9’s way, put real heat on their playoff push. They recovered when they needed to, setting up a decisive final-day match against LOUD with a spot directly on the line. Both teams made it through, which means that match delivered exactly the tension the format promised.

What the playoff bracket looks like now

The double-elimination playoff bracket runs August 27 through September 5 at the Riot Games Arena in Los Angeles, as reported by Dot Esports. NRG and Leviatán’s stronger group finishes should translate into more favorable seeding as the bracket takes shape.

Four Challenger teams will also enter through the Play-In bracket, which started August 13 and concludes August 23. Those teams are La Masia from Challengers Brazil, M80 from Challengers NA, BESTIA from Challengers LATAM, and 2Game Esports from the Americas Last Chance Qualifier. The Play-In sides will have to fight their way in before facing the group-stage qualifiers.

The stakes heading into Los Angeles

For teams still navigating their VCT futures, the playoff prize structure matters beyond the cash. The top finisher earns $100,000 and 8 Championship Points. Second place receives $65,000 and 6 points. Third place picks up $40,000 and 5 points, while fourth brings $25,000 and 4 points. Fifth and sixth place earn $10,000 each, and seventh and eighth place leave with nothing on either front.

More critically, the top two finishers earn direct qualification to Champions Shanghai. That is the target every team in this bracket is actually working toward. Prize money is nice, but Shanghai is the goal.

NRG is best positioned to claim one of those two berths right now. Leviatán look capable of joining them. For 100 Thieves and LOUD, the harder road through Group Omega at least proved they can handle pressure when the bracket demands it. Whether that experience holds up against NRG or Leviatán in Los Angeles is the question the next few weeks will answer.
