Europe Finally Gets Its Name on the Wall

Riot Games made it official on August 16. Rasmus “Caps” Winther, the G2 Esports mid laner who has been the defining player of European League of Legends for the better part of a decade, is the third inductee into the League of Legends Hall of Legends. He follows Faker, who was honored in 2024, and Uzi, who took the spot in 2025. Caps is the first Western player to receive the distinction, according to reporting by Dot Esports.

The announcement came a little earlier than Riot may have planned. Hall of Legends assets surfaced on the League PBE earlier in the week, effectively confirming Caps ahead of any official reveal and also tipping off that Tristana would be getting the Immortalized Legend skin tied to his induction. Riot moved quickly to get the official announcement out after the leak.

What the Induction Actually Looks Like

The rollout follows a schedule that should feel familiar to anyone who followed the Faker and Uzi inductions. Caps will receive his Hall of Legends trophy at a ceremony in Berlin on August 18. His dedicated website opens August 24. Then on September 10, the in-game event goes live, bringing a pass built around moments from his career alongside a collection of cosmetics. Riot has also produced a full Hall of Legends film set to release alongside the event, covering his career and his place in European competitive play.

The complete skin and cosmetic lineup has not been announced yet, though Tristana receiving an Immortalized Legend skin was confirmed through the PBE leak. Pricing and full pass reward details are expected before September 10.

Inductees receive more than a trophy and a tribute video. They also take a share of the revenue generated by Hall of Legends passes and bundles, split with their current and former teams. It is a meaningful financial acknowledgment, not just a ceremonial one.

How the Selection Process Works

Getting into the Hall of Legends is not simple. Players must have competed at the Tier 1 level for at least five cumulative years just to be considered. From there, Riot employees across the major regions nominate a pool of roughly 20 eligible players. An independent panel of 50 esports veterans then votes on them, weighing international appearances, regional and international titles, role-specific statistics, and broader contributions to competitive League of Legends.

For Caps, the case is hard to argue against. He has been the central figure on most of Europe’s strongest international rosters over the past ten years, competing at Worlds repeatedly and consistently performing at a level that kept him in conversation with the best players in any region.

A Small Club Gets a Third Member

With Caps confirmed, the Hall of Legends now has exactly three members. Faker, Uzi, Caps. The program is only two years old, so the list is short by design, and the bar is clearly set high. Each induction has represented a different region and a different era of the game, and Caps marks the first time the Western competitive scene has been formally recognized at this level.
