MOUZ squeaks into BLAST Bounty final after nearly blowing 12-2 lead

A win is a win, even a messy one

MOUZ are through to the grand final of BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 2. That much is certain. How they got there, though, is a story of a team that kept trying to give the match away.

According to HLTV, MOUZ defeated Astralis 2-1 on August 1, securing a spot in the final against Spirit. The result marks what HLTV describes as a “dream debut” for MOUZ with their new roster configuration. But between the result and the reality lies a series packed with botched advantages, surrendered leads, and one near-catastrophic meltdown on Dust2 that had to have their coaching staff reaching for the antacids.

Astralis draws first blood on Ancient

Astralis came out with purpose on Ancient, winning the pistol and rolling out to a 5-0 lead on the T-side. MOUZ grabbed a couple of rounds but, as HLTV reports, they squandered too many opportunities to get a real foothold. That trend would define the whole series.

The second half started promisingly for MOUZ with a 4v3 in the pistol, but Astralis in-game leader Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen stepped up with a triple kill to flip it. Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás managed a clutch to give MOUZ a brief lifeline, but Jakob “jabbi” Nygaard answered immediately with a Five-SeveN kill. Then, to close out the map entirely, jabbi aced MOUZ in the final round, finishing it off with a last-second defuse. Ancient to Astralis.

MOUZ finds its footing on Mirage

Mirage was a different story, at least at the start. MOUZ raced out to a 6-1 lead on offense, looking sharper and more composed. Then Love “phzy” Smidebrant stepped in with an ace on a saved AWP to breathe life into Astralis’s defense, and MOUZ’s old habits came creeping back. They dropped a 3v2 and allowed Astralis to chip away and level the half.

The second half, though, showed a more resilient version of MOUZ. Adrian “xelex” Vincze delivered a sneaky double kill off a force-buy win, and MOUZ held on through the tight situations that had burned them earlier. They sent the series to a Dust2 decider.

The near-collapse on Dust2

The first half of Dust2 looked like a coronation. Torzsi and xelex were dominant, and MOUZ built a jaw-dropping 10-2 lead. Two quick wins to start the second half put them at 12-2, seemingly home and dry.

Then things got very uncomfortable.

As HLTV reports, a squandered 4v2 cracked the door open, and Astralis kicked it in. The B bombsite became a genuine problem for MOUZ, with Oldřich “PR” Nový and Lotan “Spinx” Giladi struggling to hold repeated attacks even with numbers advantages. Phzy and jabbi pulled off a 2v4 to keep Astralis alive, and suddenly a 10-point lead was looking very fragile.

In the end, the mountain was simply too steep. Astralis could not complete the comeback, and MOUZ closed out the map to advance. But the message was clear: this is a team still finding its rhythm.

What MOUZ needs before facing Spirit

The individual performances were there. Torzsi and xelex were excellent in the decisive moments on Dust2, and MOUZ’s gun-round execution was often the better of the two sides across the series. Astralis, to their credit, leaned heavily on heroic individual moments from jabbi to stay competitive, and he delivered repeatedly.

But Spirit will not hand MOUZ the same opportunities Astralis left on the table. Converting 4v2s, holding bombsites under pressure, and not letting a 12-2 lead turn into a gut-check moment are the things MOUZ will need to address before the grand final. The talent is clearly there. The composure, at least on this evidence, is still a work in progress.
