The Pizza Place That Was Always a Little Too Dangerous Is Becoming Real

For over a decade, Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza existed as the kind of place you would never actually want to visit. That was, of course, the point. But now, according to reporting by Dexerto, a fully functional version of the fictional restaurant from Scott Cawthon’s Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise is headed to American Dream mall in New Jersey, with an opening planned for 2027.

The development is a collaboration between American Dream and ScottGames, the company behind the franchise. And the people building it are not treating this as a themed restaurant with some spooky decor stapled on. Atreyu Alcantar, American Dream’s creative manager, made the ambitions clear in a statement reported by Dexerto via Toybook.com: “We’re not building a set that looks like Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. We’re building Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.”

What Fans Can Actually Expect Inside

The planned experience goes well beyond a novelty menu. According to Dexerto, visitors will be able to order pizza, play arcade games, and watch a live animatronic stage show featuring the franchise’s iconic trio of Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica. There will also be a separate show at Foxy’s Pirate Cove. On top of that, guests can step behind the curtain for immersive multiplayer survival-horror experiences, which is either exactly what FNAF fans have dreamed about or precisely what they should fear, depending on how you look at it.

Alcantar emphasized that quality is central to the vision. “The animatronic show has to be authentic. The food has to be high-quality,” he said, as reported by Dexerto. “This experience will immerse longtime fans in the world they’ve imagined for years while welcoming an entirely new audience to discover it for the first time.”

No specific opening date within 2027 has been announced yet.

A Franchise That Has Never Stopped Growing

The timing makes a certain kind of sense when you look at how far the FNAF franchise has traveled since Cawthon released the original game in 2014. As Dexerto notes, the series has since expanded to 12 mainline games, multiple spinoffs, a line of novels, and two feature films. The animatronics already made the leap from pixels to physical space at Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights, where a haunted house maze brought the characters to life for horror fans.

American Dream itself is not exactly a quiet strip mall. The New Jersey destination already houses a Nickelodeon Universe theme park and a DreamWorks waterpark, so a FNAF pizzeria fits into an environment that takes immersive entertainment seriously.

What makes this particular project feel different from a standard brand extension is the stated intent to build something that actually functions as the restaurant from the games, animatronics and all. FNAF has always been about atmosphere, dread, and the creeping sense that something is watching you from across a dimly lit dining room. Pulling that off in a real space where families are also trying to enjoy a slice of pizza is a genuinely interesting challenge, and how the creative team balances the horror with the hospitality will be worth watching closely as 2027 approaches.
